Betsy Stapleton
Board Chairman
Betsy, with her husband Michael, moved to Scott Valley in 2010 after having bought their property on French Creek in 2000. Betsy appreciates Scott Valley for it's deep roots, families with strong heritages and the values of hard work, honesty and appreciation of the natural world. Prior to moving to Scott Valley, Betsy worked as a Nurse Practitioner and raised three children.
Larry Alexander
Larry is the founder of Resource Management. During the past 20 years, throughout Northern California and Southern Oregon, Larry has been integrally involved in Natural Resource training, facilitation, watershed assessment and restoration.
Michael Stapleton
Michael is originally from ranching and farming country in the Sandhill Region of northwestern Nebraska. The military brought him to Northern California and after living in Humboldt County for much of his life, he wanted to return to a ranching /farming community such as Scott Valley especially with its nearby mountains with great trail riding. Michael feels that Scott Valley is a very special place with incredible natural resources and interesting people.
Charnna Gilmore
Executive Director
Charnna was a SRWC board member starting in 2007 and took the ED position in 2014. She has lived and worked in the Scott Valley since 1988. Charnna was also a local real estate broker and recently obtained a degree in the Environmental Science and Policy at Southern Oregon University and will be working towards a Conflict Management Certificate from University of California, Davis.
Craig Thompson
Craig is a 4th generation California farmer who owns and operates Rockside Ranch with his wife, Jen. Craig is also involved with Kidder Creek Camp, Etna Ambulance, and various other community groups and activities.
Judd Hanna
Kory Hayden
Kory grew up on the Eastside of Scott Valley in a long-time ranching family. She is dedicated to regenerative land practices and the balance between business and the environment. Kory serves as the Communication Manager for the Siskiyou Economic Development Council, and served as a longtime Assistant Director at Saint Mary’s College of California where she developed programs and expanded department capacity. In her free time, Kory supports community building efforts for rural vitality in Scott Valley and spends time on her family ranch
Jennifer Bray
Jen is currently the Salmon River Fire Prevention Officer for the Salmon River Ranger District on the Klamath National Forest... Jen enjoys working and playing on the Salmon River and can't think of a better, more beautiful place to play with her four year old...anything outdoors is her hobby! "Hiking, gardening, swimming...we live in a magical place!"
Matt Thomas
Matt is a professional civil engineer with 11 years of experience in water resources, specifically surface water, and I'm licensed in CA, OR, and WA. I'm also a Certified Floodplain Manager by the Association of Floodplain Managers (ASFPM). I'm currently employed by Restoration Design Group, Inc as a civil and hydraulic engineer which specializes in urban stream restoration and outdoor public spaces. Matt has spent most of my life in, on or near rivers. Matt used to be an avid whitewater kayaker and has kayaked the Scott numerous times as well as the Salmon, Kidder Creek, Shackleford Creek and Patterson Creek. In 2009 Matt suffered a spinal cord injury and now is connected to rivers through work. Matt is married and has a 2.5 year old daughter that has wild hair and loves the water!

Originally established in 1992, the SRWC became a nonprofit in 2011. We cooperatively seek solutions to enhance local resources and facilitate community collaboration on watershed issues. SRWC provides leadership to support science-based restoration in Scott Valley. SRWC brings research, education and discussion on natural resource issues to the community, and implements restoration projects based on community and ecosystem needs.
